What Is IKO Rubershield Pro Breather Membrane 1m x 50m (50m2/Roll)?
IKO Rubershield Pro is a specialised 140g/m² Low Resistance (LR) breathable membrane designed specifically for pitched roofing applications. The membrane functions as an integral part of a roof's moisture management system, allowing water vapour to escape from the building structure while simultaneously preventing liquid water from entering.
When installed correctly, the membrane sits underneath the tiles, slates, or other roofing materials, creating a secondary defence against water penetration. Without such a membrane, any moisture that becomes trapped within the roof structure could condense as temperatures change, leading to dampness that deteriorates timber, reduces insulation effectiveness, and potentially creates conditions for mould growth.
The product carries BBA (British Board of Agrément) certification, approving its use in both unventilated warm roof constructions (where insulation follows the roof pitch) and unventilated cold roof constructions (where insulation sits at ceiling level).
