HardieBacker 6mm, otherwise known as 6mm cement board, features innovative MouldBlock Technology deeming it a durable water and mould-resistant alternative to plywood for tiling floors.
Unlike plywood and plasterboard, HardieBacker excels in wet areas like kitchens and bathrooms and is an ideal substrate for vinyl, natural stone and ceramic tiles.
Its lack of paper facing keeps mould growth at bay and ensures the boards will not warp or rot when exposed to water.
Aside from offering impressive protection against moisture damage, it also boasts excellent adhesive properties, ensuring that whatever ceramic or stone tile you use, it will hold strong with applied weights of up to 200 kg/m2.

Where Is 6mm Tile Backer Board Used?
6mm HardieBacker Board is a plasterboard alternative cement board specifically designed for use in wet areas such as kitchens and bathrooms.
When tiling a wooden floor, 6mm HardieBacker Board offers a sturdy and flat surface upon which to tile, reducing excessive flex and hence preventing grout from cracking.
When installing onto wooden floors we recommend using insulation fixing washers and screws.
When installing 6mm HardieBacker Board onto concrete sub floor we suggest using flexible tile adhesive, ensuring the floor is primed before installation.
For the best protection against moisture damage we recommend using 6mm HardieBacker Board in the following applications:
- Vinyl, natural stone and ceramic tiles substrate
