How delivery works

We work with a nationwide network of trusted suppliers. Items in your basket may be supplied by different suppliers and delivered separately. Where this applies, you will see delivery charges shown at checkout for each part of your order. We always aim to group products from the same supplier to keep delivery costs as low as possible.

Delivery areas

Delivery charges apply to mainland UK, excluding: AB, CA, CF, DD, DG, EH, EX, FK, KA, KW, KY, IV, LA, LD, LL, ML, NP, PA, PH, PL, SA, SY, TR, TQ and TD.

If your address is in one of these areas, we will contact you before processing your order to confirm any additional costs. We do not currently offer delivery outside the UK mainland.

What to expect on delivery day

  • Deliveries are typically kerbside.
  • Please ensure someone is on-site to accept delivery. For heavier items, help with offloading may be required.
  • Many building materials arrive on large vehicles. If access is restricted, a specialist vehicle such as a HIAB may be required and could incur an additional charge.

Why delivery can cost more than typical parcel delivery

Building materials often travel on larger vehicles and usually carry fewer drops per run than parcel networks. That is why delivery charges can be higher than standard e-commerce shipping.

Returns

Returns depend on what you have bought and whether there is anything wrong with it. For full details on eligibility, timeframes, and exclusions, please see our full policy.

Product Overview

Sawn pressure-treated softwood batten, measuring 4800mm in length with a 25mm x 38mm (1" x 1.5") section.

This medium-light profile balances strength and ease of handling, making it suitable for general construction, fencing trims, and light roofing support in longer runs.

Features & Benefits

  • Pressure treatment: Helps extend service life in outdoor or damp conditions.
  • Square-cut edges: Consistent profile for tight fixing and alignment.
  • Natural timber appearance: Suitable for both construction and landscaping contexts.
  • Workable softwood: Easy to cut, drill, and fix using standard tools.
  • Length 4800mm: Reduces the number of joints in continuous runs.
  • Section 25mm x 38mm (1" x 1.5"): Balances strength and practicality for light framing and sheet support.

Applications

  • General construction support: Can be used with sheet materials such as plywood, plasterboard, and cladding where battens create a level fixing base.
  • Service gaps in construction: Helps form cavities for insulation, cabling, and pipework.
  • Fencing trims and detailing: Stable enough for trims and finishing work in fencing projects.
  • DIY and interiors: Suitable for shelving, boxing-in, and light framing tasks.

Installation Guidance

  • Set out battens evenly: Ensures consistent fixing points and prevents material warping.
  • Use galvanised or stainless fixings: Protects against corrosion and prolongs service life outdoors.
  • Maintain ventilation gaps: Supports insulation performance and prevents trapped moisture behind cladding or sheet materials.
  • End-grain protection: Seal all cut ends and notches with a suitable end-grain preservative product to maintain treatment integrity.

Compliance & Performance

  • Preservative treatment (Tanalith ‘E’): Pressure treatment provides resistance against fungal decay and insect attack.
  • Non-structural classification: Suitable only for light-duty and non-load-bearing applications indoors or outdoors.
  • Dimensional tolerance: Finished sizes typically arrive slightly under nominal, often around 2mm less in thickness and 5mm less in width.
  • Natural variation: Colour and surface appearance vary naturally and by treatment batch.
  • Moisture disclaimer: Treated Timber is often stored outside and if it has recently been raining then the timber may arrive wet; this does not affect the integrity of the timber.
