Product Overview

Green pressure-treated sawn softwood carcassing timber, measuring 3000mm in length with a 22mm x 200mm (8" x 1") section. Installed at the base of fencing, it serves as a gravel board and provides a buffer between soil and timber panels, helping to prevent moisture damage and prolong fence life.

The deeper 200mm section gives greater ground clearance than standard 150mm gravel boards, making it useful for wet ground, uneven sites, or where a more substantial base is preferred.

At 3000mm long, it suits larger fencing projects and extended runs.

Features & Benefits

  • Pressure-treated softwood: Resists rot, fungal decay, and insect attack.
  • Green tint from treatment: Indicates preservative treatment for external use.
  • Gravel board: Protects fence panels by separating them from direct soil contact.
  • Deep 200mm section: Provides extra ground clearance compared to standard 150mm gravel boards.
  • Natural timber appearance: Can be left to weather naturally or stained/painted if desired.
  • Kiln-dried timber: Reduces risk of warping and splitting for greater stability.
  • Workable softwood: Easy to cut, drill, and fix using standard tools.
  • Board length 3000mm: Suited to larger fencing projects and extended runs.
  • Section size 22mm x 200mm (8" x 1"): Compatible with panel and feather edge fencing where a more substantial base is preferred.

Colour and finish are representative only and may vary slightly as this is a natural product.

Applications

  • Fence base protection: Prevents panels from sitting directly on soil.
  • Domestic garden fencing: Improves the service life of both panel and closeboard fences.
  • Feather edge and panel fencing: Compatible with both systems, offering flexibility in installation.
  • Edging and light construction: Provides a durable timber option for garden borders and small outdoor projects, with added height for retaining soil or gravel.

Installation Guidance

  • Handling/storage: Store off the ground and under cover to avoid unnecessary wetting.
  • Fixing method: Secure at the base of posts with nails, screws, or clips.
  • End grain protection: Treat cut ends with a suitable preservative.

Compliance & Performance

  • Preservative treatment: Pressure-treated and kiln-dried softwood for outdoor use.
  • Service class: Suitable for external fencing applications.

How delivery works

We work with a nationwide network of trusted suppliers. Items in your basket may be supplied by different suppliers and delivered separately. Where this applies, you will see delivery charges shown at checkout for each part of your order. We always aim to group products from the same supplier to keep delivery costs as low as possible.

Delivery areas

Delivery charges apply to mainland UK, excluding: AB, CA, CF, DD, DG, EH, EX, FK, KA, KW, KY, IV, LA, LD, LL, ML, NP, PA, PH, PL, SA, SY, TR, TQ and TD.

If your address is in one of these areas, we will contact you before processing your order to confirm any additional costs. We do not currently offer delivery outside the UK mainland.

What to expect on delivery day

  • Deliveries are typically kerbside.
  • Please ensure someone is on-site to accept delivery. For heavier items, help with offloading may be required.
  • Many building materials arrive on large vehicles. If access is restricted, a specialist vehicle such as a HIAB may be required and could incur an additional charge.

Why delivery can cost more than typical parcel delivery

Building materials often travel on larger vehicles and usually carry fewer drops per run than parcel networks. That is why delivery charges can be higher than standard e-commerce shipping.

Returns

Returns depend on what you have bought and whether there is anything wrong with it. For full details on eligibility, timeframes, and exclusions, please see our full policy.
