Product Overview

140mm Celcon H+H Standard Grade aircrete block, measuring 440mm x 215mm x 140mm, with a plain face and compressive strength of 3.6N/mm².

Produced from autoclaved aerated concrete (AAC) at a dry density of around 600kg/m³, the block combines lightweight construction with reliable strength, enabling faster build programmes and lower foundation loads without compromising compliance.

With a thermal conductivity of 0.15 W/m·K, it delivers excellent insulation compared to dense concrete units, helping buildings meet energy standards cost-effectively. Its mass also improves acoustic performance, making it well suited for internal partitions and separating walls.

Non-combustible (Euroclass A1) and frost-resistant, the block is safe for use both above and below DPC. Versatile in application, it can be used in cavity and solid walls, partitions, flanking walls, and beam-and-block flooring across residential, commercial, and multi-storey developments.

The increased 140mm thickness provides greater load-bearing strength, improved thermal efficiency, and enhanced sound insulation compared with 100mm units.

Features & Benefits

  • 3.6N/mm² compressive strength: Provides certified strength for use in structural and non-structural applications.
  • Lightweight aircrete construction: Reduces manual handling strain and speeds installation.
  • Thermal conductivity 0.15 W/m·K: Contributes to compliance with Part L of Building Regulations.
  • Sound insulation performance: Additional mass improves airborne sound reduction.
  • Non-combustible (Euroclass A1): Will not contribute to fire spread, enhancing building safety.
  • Resistant to freeze-thaw: Reliable for external walling and below-DPC applications.
  • Average dry density ~600kg/m³: Balances lightweight handling with structural stability.
  • Standard size 440mm x 215mm x 140mm: Fully compatible with traditional UK brick and block coursing.
  • 140mm thickness: Provides increased load-bearing strength along with improved thermal performance compared with 100mm units.

Applications

  • Can be used with cavity wall construction: Suitable for both inner and outer leaves in low-rise and multi-storey projects.
  • Solid wall construction: Offers strength and thermal performance for single-leaf walling.
  • Below-DPC and foundation use: Appropriate for groundworks and substructure walls when specified correctly.
  • Internal partitions, separating, and flanking walls: Suitable where enhanced acoustic or structural performance is required.

Installation Guidance

  • Mortar bedding: Suitable for use with traditional sand/cement mortars or thin-joint systems for faster build.
  • Cutting and chasing: Easily cut, chased, or drilled using hand saws or power tools, simplifying detailing.
  • Finishing: Accepts plaster, render, cladding, or drylining systems, depending on project requirements.

Compliance & Performance

  • Compressive strength 3.6N/mm²: Meets structural requirements for walls in domestic and commercial buildings.
  • BS EN 771-4 compliance: Manufactured in accordance with European standards for autoclaved aerated concrete blocks
  • Pallet Charge: Orders requiring a pallet will incur a refundable pallet charge. Our customer service team will confirm if this applies to your order.

How delivery works

We work with a nationwide network of trusted suppliers. Items in your basket may be supplied by different suppliers and delivered separately. Where this applies, you will see delivery charges shown at checkout for each part of your order. We always aim to group products from the same supplier to keep delivery costs as low as possible.

Delivery areas

Delivery charges apply to mainland UK, excluding: AB, CA, CF, DD, DG, EH, EX, FK, KA, KW, KY, IV, LA, LD, LL, ML, NP, PA, PH, PL, SA, SY, TR, TQ and TD.

If your address is in one of these areas, we will contact you before processing your order to confirm any additional costs. We do not currently offer delivery outside the UK mainland.

What to expect on delivery day

  • Deliveries are typically kerbside.
  • Please ensure someone is on-site to accept delivery. For heavier items, help with offloading may be required.
  • Many building materials arrive on large vehicles. If access is restricted, a specialist vehicle such as a HIAB may be required and could incur an additional charge.

Why delivery can cost more than typical parcel delivery

Building materials often travel on larger vehicles and usually carry fewer drops per run than parcel networks. That is why delivery charges can be higher than standard e-commerce shipping.

Returns

Returns depend on what you have bought and whether there is anything wrong with it. For full details on eligibility, timeframes, and exclusions, please see our full policy.
