How delivery works
We work with a nationwide network of trusted suppliers. Items in your basket may be supplied by different suppliers and delivered separately. Where this applies, you will see delivery charges shown at checkout for each part of your order. We always aim to group products from the same supplier to keep delivery costs as low as possible.
Delivery areas
Delivery charges apply to mainland UK, excluding: AB, CA, CF, DD, DG, EH, EX, FK, KA, KW, KY, IV, LA, LD, LL, ML, NP, PA, PH, PL, SA, SY, TR, TQ and TD.
If your address is in one of these areas, we will contact you before processing your order to confirm any additional costs. We do not currently offer delivery outside the UK mainland.
What to expect on delivery day
- Deliveries are typically kerbside.
- Please ensure someone is on-site to accept delivery. For heavier items, help with offloading may be required.
- Many building materials arrive on large vehicles. If access is restricted, a specialist vehicle such as a HIAB may be required and could incur an additional charge.
Why delivery can cost more than typical parcel delivery
Building materials often travel on larger vehicles and usually carry fewer drops per run than parcel networks. That is why delivery charges can be higher than standard e-commerce shipping.
Returns
Returns depend on what you have bought and whether there is anything wrong with it. For full details on eligibility, timeframes, and exclusions, please see our full policy.

Product Overview
High Tensile Steel Reinforcement Bar with a 12mm diameter and 3000mm length. Manufactured from high-strength carbon steel, this ribbed bar is engineered to provide the essential tensile strength that concrete lacks, preventing cracking and structural failure under tension or shear loads. The deformed surface features a series of ridges designed to create a high-friction mechanical bond with the concrete matrix, ensuring the steel and concrete act as a single composite unit.
Commonly used in residential groundworks, standard-duty slabs, and footing reinforcements, the 12mm diameter offers a versatile balance between structural rigidity and on-site workability. It is particularly effective when used in conjunction with concrete blocks to create reinforced masonry lintels or strengthened cavity wall foundations. The variable length of this unit is 3000mm.
Features & Benefits
- Deformed surface with ridges: Locks mechanically into the surrounding concrete, improving bond strength and enhancing crack control under load.
- Carbon steel construction: Provides high yield strength and durability, ensuring reinforcement maintains performance throughout the service life of the structure.
- Weldable before pouring: Allows bars to be joined or prefabricated into cages and mats, improving accuracy and reducing on-site labour.
- Acts as a tension device: Offsets concrete’s inherent weakness in tension, improving resistance to cracking, bending, and shear stresses.
- High ductility: Permits controlled bending and shaping on-site without compromising the structural integrity of the steel.
- 12mm diameter: Suited to general-purpose domestic groundworks and standard load reinforcement in residential slabs.
- Standard 3000mm length: Practical size for manual handling and transport on domestic sites.
Applications
- Concrete slabs: Reinforces floor and patio slabs to minimise shrinkage cracking and distribute point loads evenly across the sub-base.
- Driveways and pathways: Strengthens domestic groundworks subject to vehicle traffic to prevent subsidence and surface fracturing.
- Reinforced masonry: Inserted into the hollow cores or bed joints of concrete blocks to provide lateral stability in retaining walls.
- Foundations and footings: Increases the longitudinal tensile strength of trench-fill or strip foundations in residential construction.
- Edge thickening: Provides essential perimeter reinforcement in raft foundations to support the weight of external leaf masonry.
Installation Guidance
- Cut with suitable tools: Use a high-speed angle grinder with a metal-cutting disc or a heavy-duty manual bolt cropper for clean, efficient sizing.
- Bend with a bar bender: Shape the steel using a manual or hydraulic bar bending tool, ensuring the bend radius complies with standard BS 8666 requirements to avoid micro-fracturing.
- Observe spacing guides: Position bars at 150mm to 300mm centres for standard slabs, or as specified by a structural engineer to ensure uniform load distribution.
- Maintain correct cover: Use plastic or concrete spacers to ensure a minimum of 50mm concrete cover around the bar to protect the steel from corrosion.
- Secure with tying wire: Fasten all intersections tightly using 16-gauge black annealed tying wire to prevent displacement during the concrete pour.
- Lap joints correctly: Ensure a minimum lap length of 40 times the bar diameter (480mm for this profile) when joining two bars to maintain tension continuity.
Compliance & Performance
- Material specification: Manufactured to BS 4449:2005 Grade B500B or equivalent for high-tensile ribbed reinforcement steel.
- Bond strength: Surface geometry conforms to industry standards for high-bond bars, ensuring maximum adhesion to the concrete mix.
- Chemical composition: Controlled carbon content ensures excellent weldability and long-term chemical stability within the alkaline environment of concrete.
- Important note: Steel reinforcement must be free from loose rust, oil, or mud at the time of the pour to ensure the mechanical bond with the concrete is not compromised.
