Product Overview

3600mm galvanised steel furring channel for use in suspended ceiling frameworks.

Within the MF ceiling system, the MF5 profile works in conjunction with MF7 primary channels and MF6A perimeter channels, forming the secondary layer that directly carries the plasterboard lining.

Constructed from robust galvanised steel, the channel delivers excellent strength and long-term resistance to corrosion, maintaining integrity throughout the service life of the ceiling.

It is engineered to meet recognised performance standards for suspended ceiling construction, ensuring reliability across a range of settings.

When combined with other MF components, the channel forms a rigid and durable framework capable of supporting both standard and specialist plasterboards.

Features & Benefits

  • Defined system role: Forms the secondary furring channel within MF ceiling frameworks, directly supporting plasterboard sheets.
  • Galvanised steel construction: Durable material with strong resistance to corrosion, ensuring long service life.
  • System integration: Designed to work seamlessly with MF7 primary channels, MF6A perimeter channels, and ceiling fixings.
  • Service accommodation: Creates a void above the ceiling to allow recessed lighting, ducting, and service runs.
  • Load-bearing performance: Capable of supporting standard and performance plasterboards without distortion.
  • Precision-formed profile: Ensures accurate alignment and consistent spacing within the framework.
  • Versatile application: Suitable for residential, commercial, and industrial ceiling systems.

  • Residential projects: Used in domestic ceiling construction for smooth, level finishes.
  • Industrial settings: Suitable for robust ceiling frameworks in workshops and service areas.

Installation Guidance

  • Framework integration: Fix MF5 channels securely to MF7 primary channels or hangers.
  • Spacing accuracy: Install at recommended intervals to ensure uniform support.
  • Plasterboard fixing: Provide the direct fixing surface for screw-attached plasterboard sheets.
  • Cutting adjustments: Cut to length where required with suitable metal cutting tools.
  • Handling care: Wear gloves and PPE when handling galvanised steel channels.

Compliance & Performance

  • Material specification: Manufactured from galvanised steel for strength and corrosion resistance.
  • System compatibility: Designed for use within standard MF suspended ceiling systems.
  • Load capacity: Engineered to support plasterboard and finishing materials without distortion.
  • Dimensional consistency: Produced to uniform specification for accurate installation.
