Product Overview
Self-adhesive hangers with a 62mm overall pin length complete with galvanised spring-steel locking washer. Designed to fix insulation to smooth substrates such as air ducts, attenuators, chambers, and enclosures without drilling.
Each hanger consists of an aluminium shank securely factory-mounted to a 50mm × 50 mm galvanised steel base, coated with high-quality white, cross-linked, closed-cell polyethylene foam adhesive.
Installation is quick and simple: impale the insulation and secure it with the locking washer. Full bond strength is achieved after 24 hours.
Ideal for applications requiring a modest projection, these hangers are suited to thin liners and lightweight quilt build-ups, with a precise overall length of 62 mm.
Features & Benefits
- Adhesive base construction: 50×50 mm galvanised steel plate, 0.4 mm thick, bonded with 1mm white cross-linked closed-cell polyethylene foam coated both sides with modified acrylate adhesive; siliconised paper liner for clean release.
- Pin specification: 2.7mm (12 ga) aluminium shank firmly mounted to the base for reliable impalement and retention of insulation layers.
- Washer compatibility: Supplied with CL 24-32 bevelled-edge locking washers, manufactured from 0.4mm thick galvanised spring steel (32 × 30 mm), providing secure and reliable mechanical clamping.
- Length: 62mm length provides practical projection for thin liners and light quilt build-ups where minimal stand-off is required.
Applications
- Thin duct liners: Fastening light duct liner to smooth sheet-metal duct walls and plenums.
- Equipment enclosures: Fixing insulation inside AHU panels and small casings with limited clearance.
- Acoustic wraps: Retaining lightweight acoustic quilts on branches and take-offs.
- Foil-faced laminates: Clamping single-layer foil-faced thermal membranes where short projection is preferred.
Installation Guidance
- Surface condition: Substrate must be clean, dry, and free of dust, grease, oil, or loose matter; do not use degreasing agents.
- Application temperature: Install within +15 °C to +25 °C for optimum adhesive wet-out.
- Placement: Remove the siliconised liner without touching the adhesive, position, and press the full base area firmly.
- Fixing the insulation: Impale insulation immediately and drive the locking washer down to clamp; full bond develops after 24 hours.
- Finishing: Trim or cap the exposed pin as required to prevent sharp protrusions and protect adjacent materials.
Compliance & Performance
- Materials:
- Base formed from 50×50mm galvanised steel, 0.4 mm thick, providing a rigid and corrosion-resistant mounting platform.
- Shank manufactured from 2.7mm (12 ga) aluminium for light weight, ease of impalement, and long-term stability in service.
- Adhesive layer composed of 1mm white, cross-linked closed-cell polyethylene foam coated on both faces with modified acrylate adhesive to deliver permanent, pressure-sensitive bonding.
- Liner of siliconised paper ensures clean release during installation.
- Locking washer supplied in galvanised spring steel, CL 24-32 pattern, 32×30 mm with 0.4 mm thickness and bevelled edges for secure grip and smooth seating.
- Adhesion performance:
- Modified acrylate adhesive demonstrates high initial tack and long-term bond strength.
- When tested to FINAT-TM 1 on stainless steel with a 50 µm polyester film, peel adhesion exceeds 18 N per 25 mm after 1 minute, with substrate tearing observed after 20 minutes and 24 hours, confirming cohesive bond integrity.
- FINAT-TM 8 shear testing shows sustained load resistance exceeding 150 hours at 23 °C and 1 hour at 70 °C, indicating reliable adhesion across typical service temperatures.
- Service conditions:
- Optimum installation temperature is between +15 °C and +25 °C to achieve full adhesive contact and bond formation.
- Once applied, the assembly remains serviceable within a holding temperature range of −40 °C to +80 °C without adhesive degradation.
- Storage life is up to 2 years when kept in a dry environment at +10 °C to +30 °C and approximately 50% relative humidity.
- Surfaces must be clean and dry - avoid the use of degreasing products and prevent exposure to chlorinated, cetonic, or ester-based solvents, which may compromise adhesive performance.
- Limitations: Not for contact with chlorinated, cetonic, or ester solvents; verify substrate compatibility and bond on site.
- Important note: Information is guidance based on tests and experience; ensure suitability for purpose and follow system fire/hygiene requirements; handle sharp pins with appropriate PPE.
