Product Overview
Flat Packers with a 6mm thickness and 28mm width. Colour‑coded polypropylene shim for precision positioning of window and door frames.
The flat, rigid faces distribute load evenly to maintain accurate alignment during installation. Made from moisture-proof, non-corroding polypropylene for long-term stability in timber, uPVC, and aluminium frames.
Chamfer-free edges ensure maximum surface contact beneath screw heads and frame feet, while the non-staining material protects the substrate’s appearance.
Features & Benefits
- Colour identification: Red body provides fast size recognition on site and reduces selection errors in mixed trays.
- Load stability: Rigid polypropylene gives stable support under typical frame screw clamping without crushing, maintaining alignment.
- Moisture and rot resistance: Non‑absorbent plastic will not swell, rot or corrode in wet openings or fresh plaster.
- Clean seating: Smooth, burr‑free faces help achieve full contact for reliable load spreading beneath frame fixings.
- Stackable use: Uniform geometry allows stacking with other packers to build precise builds without rocking.
- Substrate compatibility: Safe for timber, masonry, concrete and metal frames; electrically non‑conductive.
- Size: 6mm thickness × 28mm width - suited to substantial packing or heavy-duty installations.
Applications
- Window frame setting: Establish plumb, level and square before fixing.
- Door frame installation: Shim hinge and strike sides for precise reveals.
- Partitioning and stud work: Pack track and studs to true lines prior to boarding.
- Joinery and cabinetry: Fine adjustment under sills, casings and carcasses.
- Cladding and battening: Space battens off substrates for drainage paths.
Installation Guidance
- Select thickness: Choose packers to match the required gap and build by stacking if needed.
- Place for support: Position directly under frame load points and at fixings to spread pressure.
- Fix without distortion: Tighten screws to secure while avoiding excessive compression that could deflect the frame.
- Verify alignment: Check level, plumb and diagonals; adjust with additional packers as required.
- Trim if necessary: Flush‑cut any protruding packer edges after final fixing.
Compliance & Performance
- Material specification: Colour‑coded polypropylene (PP), non‑staining and corrosion‑free for building substrates.
- Service suitability: Intended as non‑structural spacers for alignment and load spreading under typical frame fixings.
- Environmental durability: Resistant to moisture and common site contaminants; suitable for interior and sheltered exterior use.
- Important note: Not a substitute for structural bearing or load‑rated shims; verify suitability with the project specification.

How delivery works
We work with a nationwide network of trusted suppliers. Items in your basket may be supplied by different suppliers and delivered separately. Where this applies, you will see delivery charges shown at checkout for each part of your order. We always aim to group products from the same supplier to keep delivery costs as low as possible.
Delivery areas
Delivery charges apply to mainland UK, excluding: AB, CA, CF, DD, DG, EH, EX, FK, KA, KW, KY, IV, LA, LD, LL, ML, NP, PA, PH, PL, SA, SY, TR, TQ and TD.
If your address is in one of these areas, we will contact you before processing your order to confirm any additional costs. We do not currently offer delivery outside the UK mainland.
What to expect on delivery day
- Deliveries are typically kerbside.
- Please ensure someone is on-site to accept delivery. For heavier items, help with offloading may be required.
- Many building materials arrive on large vehicles. If access is restricted, a specialist vehicle such as a HIAB may be required and could incur an additional charge.
Why delivery can cost more than typical parcel delivery
Building materials often travel on larger vehicles and usually carry fewer drops per run than parcel networks. That is why delivery charges can be higher than standard e-commerce shipping.
Returns
Returns depend on what you have bought and whether there is anything wrong with it. For full details on eligibility, timeframes, and exclusions, please see our full policy.
