Delivery & Returns Information

How Our Delivery Works

We work with a nationwide network of trusted suppliers. As a result, items in your basket may be supplied by different suppliers and delivered separately. Where this applies, you'll see multiple delivery charges at checkout. We always aim to group products from the same supplier to keep delivery costs as low as possible.

Delivery Areas & Charges

Delivery charges listed on our website apply to mainland UK, excluding the following postcode areas: AB, CF, DD, DG, FK, KW, IV, LA, LD, LL, NP, PA, PH, SA, SY
If your delivery address falls within one of these postcode areas, we’ll be in touch before processing your order to confirm any additional delivery costs.

Product Overview

Smooth blue Class B engineering brick with high strength and low water absorption.

Provides durable support for loadbearing walls above-or-below ground, with perforations making the unit lighter to handle and improving mortar bond in site work.

The blue tone results from low-oxygen kiln firing, giving a consistent, uniform finish suited to visible or concealed use.

Features & Benefits

  • Class B rating (to BS EN 771-1): Assures ≥75 N/mm² compressive strength and ≤7% water absorption for dependable structural performance.
  • High compressive strength: Carries significant loads in walls, piers, and foundations without crushing.
  • Low water absorption: Resists moisture ingress and freeze-thaw damage for long service in wet or exposed locations.
  • Dense, vitrified clay body: Durability in aggressive conditions; good resistance to chemicals and sulfates (check site soils against specification).
  • Smooth finish: Neat, uniform appearance where visible; easy to clean down.
  • Blue colour from low-oxygen firing: Distinctive hue produced by restricted oxygen conditions in the kiln; minor shade variation is normal.
  • Perforated form: Reduced unit weight aids handling; vertical holes improve mortar key without compromising Class B strength.
  • 65mm course height: Integrates with UK coursing for DPCs, retaining walls, and general brickwork.

Please Note:

  • Perforation number and pattern may vary between batches; this does not affect structural performance and is within manufacturing tolerances. Colour shade can vary slightly due to raw materials and firing; this is normal for fired clay products.
  • Engineering bricks are specified for performance; if appearance is the priority, consider facing bricks.
  • Always follow project specifications for mortar selection, DPCs, movement joints, and drainage, especially in sulfate-bearing soils.

Applications

  • Foundations & substructures: Robust below-DPC masonry where strength and moisture resistance are required.
  • Damp-proof courses: Commonly used in two-course DPCs to interrupt rising damp due to low water absorption.
  • Retaining walls, plinths & cappings: Durable in contact with soil or severe weathering exposures.
  • Manholes, inspection chambers & civil works: Suitable for drainage structures and utility builds exposed to wet and aggressive conditions.

Installation Guidance

  • Lay to good practice: Full mortar beds with solidly filled perpends; keep perforations vertical to optimise bond and performance.
  • Detail for moisture control: Incorporate DPCs, weep holes, and drainage as specified; select mortar appropriate to site conditions and any sulfate risk.
  • Protect fresh work: Shield from rain, frost, and rapid drying; allow adequate curing before backfilling or loading.

Compliance & Performance

  • BS EN 771-1, Class B (≥75 N/mm², ≤7%): Meets requirements for loadbearing masonry in wet/exposed environments.
  • Intended service conditions: Suitable for use above or below DPC when designed and detailed to recognised masonry best practice.
