Product Overview

Bostik Flashband with a 225mm width and 10m length is a heavy-duty, self-adhesive bituminous flashing tape designed to deliver a durable, watertight seal on a broad range of building substrates.

The tape combines a resin-modified bitumen adhesive with a protective foil facing, producing a robust barrier that resists tearing, weathering and thermal cycling. Its pressure-sensitive adhesive bonds securely to brick, masonry, concrete roof tiles, timber, metal and rigid plastics, providing flexibility at low temperatures and resistance to flow at high temperatures for reliable long-term performance.

The adhesive mass strengthens over time, ensuring stability in both exposed and sheltered locations. No separate adhesive or specialist tools are required for application, and the foil surface provides a clean, uniform finish when in place.

The product is suitable for remedial and new-build work requiring a large-format 225mm width for broad-area protection.

Features & Benefits

  • Self-adhesive construction: Provides a strong, immediate bond without the need for separate adhesives, enabling rapid installation.
  • Watertight sealing layer: Creates a durable weatherproof barrier that prevents water ingress across joints, laps and interfaces.
  • Robust foil facing: Offers tear resistance and stabilises the tape under thermal and mechanical stress for dependable service life.
  • Good substrate compatibility: Bonds effectively to common building materials including masonry, concrete tiles, timber, metal and rigid plastics.
  • Temperature-tolerant adhesive: Remains flexible at low temperatures and resists flow at elevated temperatures for reliable year-round performance.
  • Width specification: 225mm supports large roof transitions, extensive patch repairs and wide-span detailing where broad coverage is beneficial.

Applications

  • Roof flashing repairs: Restores watertightness around chimneys, parapets and roof penetrations.
  • Joint and lap sealing: Provides a continuous seal over roofing felt joints, slate repairs and small gutter interfaces.
  • Emergency waterproofing: Acts as a rapid, self-bonding solution for leaks during adverse weather.
  • Decorative over-bridging: Accepts over-painting where required, subject to compatibility testing.

Installation Guidance

  • Surface preparation: Ensure all substrates are clean, dry and free from contaminants, with hollows over 3mm filled before application.
  • Primer use: Apply Flashband Primer Emulsion or Primer S.V. on porous or rough substrates to improve adhesion, allowing it to dry fully before use.
  • Tape positioning: Remove a short section of release backing, align the tape and apply progressively to avoid creasing.
  • Bond consolidation: Press into place using hand pressure, then roll firmly to expel air and secure all edges and overlaps.
  • Overlap formation: Maintain a minimum 25mm overlap between adjacent strips to achieve a watertight seal.

Compliance & Performance

  • Material composition: Resin-modified bituminous adhesive mass with a protective foil facing for reinforcement and weather resistance.
  • Service temperatures: Performs within -10°C to +100°C, depending on operating conditions.
  • Application temperature window: Substrate surface must be between +5°C and +30°C for correct adhesion.
  • Storage conditions: Store unopened rolls in cool, dry conditions between +5°C and +25°C, protected from frost and direct sunlight.
  • Important note: Flashband must not contact silicone sealants, flexible PVC, vinyl or solvent-rich environments and is not suitable for areas subject to foot or vehicular traffic.

How delivery works

We work with a nationwide network of trusted suppliers. Items in your basket may be supplied by different suppliers and delivered separately. Where this applies, you will see delivery charges shown at checkout for each part of your order. We always aim to group products from the same supplier to keep delivery costs as low as possible.

Delivery areas

Delivery charges apply to mainland UK, excluding: AB, CA, CF, DD, DG, EH, EX, FK, KA, KW, KY, IV, LA, LD, LL, ML, NP, PA, PH, PL, SA, SY, TR, TQ and TD.

If your address is in one of these areas, we will contact you before processing your order to confirm any additional costs. We do not currently offer delivery outside the UK mainland.

What to expect on delivery day

  • Deliveries are typically kerbside.
  • Please ensure someone is on-site to accept delivery. For heavier items, help with offloading may be required.
  • Many building materials arrive on large vehicles. If access is restricted, a specialist vehicle such as a HIAB may be required and could incur an additional charge.

Why delivery can cost more than typical parcel delivery

Building materials often travel on larger vehicles and usually carry fewer drops per run than parcel networks. That is why delivery charges can be higher than standard e-commerce shipping.

Returns

Returns depend on what you have bought and whether there is anything wrong with it. For full details on eligibility, timeframes, and exclusions, please see our full policy.
