How delivery works

We work with a nationwide network of trusted suppliers. Items in your basket may be supplied by different suppliers and delivered separately. Where this applies, you will see delivery charges shown at checkout for each part of your order. We always aim to group products from the same supplier to keep delivery costs as low as possible.

Delivery areas

Delivery charges apply to mainland UK, excluding: AB, CA, CF, DD, DG, EH, EX, FK, KA, KW, KY, IV, LA, LD, LL, ML, NP, PA, PH, PL, SA, SY, TR, TQ and TD.

If your address is in one of these areas, we will contact you before processing your order to confirm any additional costs. We do not currently offer delivery outside the UK mainland.

What to expect on delivery day

  • Deliveries are typically kerbside.
  • Please ensure someone is on-site to accept delivery. For heavier items, help with offloading may be required.
  • Many building materials arrive on large vehicles. If access is restricted, a specialist vehicle such as a HIAB may be required and could incur an additional charge.

Why delivery can cost more than typical parcel delivery

Building materials often travel on larger vehicles and usually carry fewer drops per run than parcel networks. That is why delivery charges can be higher than standard e-commerce shipping.

Returns

Returns depend on what you have bought and whether there is anything wrong with it. For full details on eligibility, timeframes, and exclusions, please see our full policy.

Product Overview

C24 strength-graded structural softwood, kiln-dried, regularised, and treated for demanding applications in floors, roofs, and primary beams.

225mm width in a 3.6m length provides heavy-duty beam performance in floors and roofs, while the 75mm thickness offers a broad bearing face for connectors and hangers, reducing bounce and deflection across medium spans.

Features & Benefits

  • Strength grading (C24): Higher density and stiffness than C16, suitable for demanding load-bearing roles.
  • Factory applied preservative treatment: Protects timber in typical above-ground conditions when installed properly.
  • Kiln-dried & regularised: Helps control shrinkage and ensures even sizing for accurate work.
  • Eased edges: Safer handling and a cleaner finish with reduced splinter risk.
  • Sawn face texture: Provides a stable key for membranes, adhesives, and coatings.
  • Easy to work: Accepts nails, screws, bolts, and hangers; generous section helps avoid splitting near fixings.
  • Length - 3.6m: Practical size for medium spans and built-up beam assemblies.
  • 225mm width: Extra-deep section with broad 75mm bearing face, enhancing stiffness and load capacity for very wide spans.
  • Section size - 75mm x 225mm (9" x 3"): Heavy-duty carcassing section for strength-critical wide spans.

Please Note: Finished sizes may arrive slightly under nominal (around 2mm less in thickness and 5mm less in width). Colour and finish vary naturally. Seal all cut ends and notches with end-grain preservative. Confirm span suitability before use.

Applications

  • Primary beams and trimmers: Extra-deep section with wide 75mm face improves bearing and stiffness in major load paths.
  • Roof members: Suitable for rafters, purlins, and joists in wide-span or load-heavy roofs.
  • Structural framing and lintels: Robust section where deflection control and connection capacity are critical.

Installation Guidance

  • Respect span limits: Only use within the limits of the specified grade.
  • Use rated fixings/connectors: Exterior-grade, corrosion-resistant hangers/bolts compatible with treated timber.
  • Re-seal all worked areas: End-grain treatment maintains protection.

Compliance & Performance

  • Strength grading: C24 to BS EN 14081 / EN 338.
  • Service conditions: Suitable for dry internal or covered external use (above ground).
