Product Overview

Treated sawn timber peg, measuring 600mm in length with a cross-section of 47mm x 50mm. Engineered for robust anchoring and layout applications, this peg offers greater penetration and holding strength than shorter versions, making it well suited to heavier-duty outdoor and site work.

The sawn finish leaves a coarse-textured surface for improved grip when securing string lines, ties, or temporary fixings. Its four-way chamfered point ensures smooth driving into various ground types, from loose soil to compacted earth.

Manufactured from softwood and pressure-treated under high pressure, the peg is infused with preservatives to resist rot, fungal decay, and insect attack. Delivered ready to use, it requires no additional preparation.

Features & Benefits

  • Durable construction: Pressure treatment ensures long-lasting resistance to rot and decay.
  • Pointed design: Four-way chamfered point aids insertion into compact or heavy soils.
  • Strength & stability: Solid 47mm x 50mm section delivers rigidity and resilience.
  • Improved grip: Sawn timber surface supports string line and tie attachment.
  • Extended size: 600mm length provides deeper anchoring and stronger hold.
  • Nominal size 47mm x 50mm x 600mm: Standardised dimensions for consistent performance.

Applications

  • Landscaping projects: Deeper anchoring for edging, turfing, or temporary fixings.
  • Construction sites: Reliable string line support and ground marking.
  • Gardening: Secures raised beds, borders, or light fencing.

Installation Guidance

  • Preparation: Choose stable ground location; clear debris before fixing.

  • Fixing: Attach ties, wires, or string securely to sawn surface.
  • Aftercare: Apply preservative to exposed ends if trimmed.
  • Finishing: Supplied treated and ready for immediate use.

Compliance & Performance

  • Material specification: Produced from sawn softwood timber.
  • Surface treatment: Pressure-treated against moisture, decay, and insects.
  • Dimensional accuracy: Nominal cross-section 47mm x 50mm, length 600mm.
  • Handling guidance: Keep dry before use for best performance.
  • Important note: Colour and finish may vary slightly as this is a natural product.

How delivery works

We work with a nationwide network of trusted suppliers. Items in your basket may be supplied by different suppliers and delivered separately. Where this applies, you will see delivery charges shown at checkout for each part of your order. We always aim to group products from the same supplier to keep delivery costs as low as possible.

Delivery areas

Delivery charges apply to mainland UK, excluding: AB, CA, CF, DD, DG, EH, EX, FK, KA, KW, KY, IV, LA, LD, LL, ML, NP, PA, PH, PL, SA, SY, TR, TQ and TD.

If your address is in one of these areas, we will contact you before processing your order to confirm any additional costs. We do not currently offer delivery outside the UK mainland.

What to expect on delivery day

  • Deliveries are typically kerbside.
  • Please ensure someone is on-site to accept delivery. For heavier items, help with offloading may be required.
  • Many building materials arrive on large vehicles. If access is restricted, a specialist vehicle such as a HIAB may be required and could incur an additional charge.

Why delivery can cost more than typical parcel delivery

Building materials often travel on larger vehicles and usually carry fewer drops per run than parcel networks. That is why delivery charges can be higher than standard e-commerce shipping.

Returns

Returns depend on what you have bought and whether there is anything wrong with it. For full details on eligibility, timeframes, and exclusions, please see our full policy.
