Product Overview
50mm scrim tape in a 90m roll, manufactured from woven fibreglass mesh with a pressure-sensitive adhesive backing. Designed for sealing plasterboard joints, it reinforces weak points and prevents cracking in finished plaster or jointing compound.
The 50mm width is suited to standard plasterboard joints on walls and ceilings. Its open mesh construction allows compound to penetrate through, forming a strong bond between boards, tape, and finish. The self-adhesive design eliminates the need for a bedding coat, enabling fast, accurate application directly to plasterboard surfaces.
With high tensile strength, dimensional stability, and a thin profile, it is easy to handle, quick to cover, and provides a seamless result that remains concealed after finishing. Supplied in a 90m roll, it offers efficiency and extended coverage for new build and repair projects.
Features & Benefits
- Crack prevention: Reinforces plasterboard joints, distributing stress to minimise cracking.
- High tensile strength: Fibreglass mesh construction resists stretching, tearing, and distortion.
- Self-adhesive backing: Applies directly to plasterboard without pre-filling with compound.
- Open mesh design: Allows jointing compound to penetrate and create a secure bond.
- Dimensionally stable: Does not shrink, blister, or deform during compound drying.
- Thin profile: Covers smoothly with compound for an invisible finish.
- Ease of use: Cut to length with a knife or snips and apply directly to joints.
- Nominal width: 50mm, ideal for most standard plasterboard joints.
- Cost effective: 90m roll length reduces waste and provides ample coverage.
Applications
- Reinforcing joints: Strengthens butt and tapered edge plasterboard joints.
- Crack repairs: Covers and reinforces minor cracks before filling and refinishing.
- Internal corners: Provides reinforcement where boards meet at angles.
- Small patch repairs: Secures plasterboard patch edges prior to feathering with compound.
Installation Guidance
- Preparation: Ensure plasterboard surface is clean and dry.
- Positioning: Apply tape centrally over the joint, adhesive side to board.
- Embedding: Press firmly to secure, ensuring no bubbles or wrinkles.
- Covering: Apply jointing compound through mesh, feathering edges.
- Finishing: Allow compound to dry, sand smooth, and apply further coats if needed.
Compliance & Performance
- Material specification: Fibreglass mesh tape with pressure-sensitive adhesive.
- Roll length: 90m.
- Nominal width: 50mm.
- Application: For reinforcing plasterboard joints and preventing cracks.
- Important note: Store in a cool, dry place, in original packaging until use; avoid prolonged heat or sunlight to preserve adhesive strength.

How delivery works
We work with a nationwide network of trusted suppliers. Items in your basket may be supplied by different suppliers and delivered separately. Where this applies, you will see delivery charges shown at checkout for each part of your order. We always aim to group products from the same supplier to keep delivery costs as low as possible.
Delivery areas
Delivery charges apply to mainland UK, excluding: AB, CA, CF, DD, DG, EH, EX, FK, KA, KW, KY, IV, LA, LD, LL, ML, NP, PA, PH, PL, SA, SY, TR, TQ and TD.
If your address is in one of these areas, we will contact you before processing your order to confirm any additional costs. We do not currently offer delivery outside the UK mainland.
What to expect on delivery day
- Deliveries are typically kerbside.
- Please ensure someone is on-site to accept delivery. For heavier items, help with offloading may be required.
- Many building materials arrive on large vehicles. If access is restricted, a specialist vehicle such as a HIAB may be required and could incur an additional charge.
Why delivery can cost more than typical parcel delivery
Building materials often travel on larger vehicles and usually carry fewer drops per run than parcel networks. That is why delivery charges can be higher than standard e-commerce shipping.
Returns
Returns depend on what you have bought and whether there is anything wrong with it. For full details on eligibility, timeframes, and exclusions, please see our full policy.
