Product Overview
Rockwool Ablative Coated Batt measuring 50mm thick and 1200mm × 600mm in size.
High-density stone-wool fire-stopping slab factory-coated on both faces with a water-based ablative sealant. Designed to reinstate fire resistance and acoustic integrity of walls and floors where services penetrate compartment lines.
The combination of non-combustible mineral wool core and ablative coating provides up to two hours’ fire resistance when installed as part of a tested system. The coating prevents the passage of smoke and flames, while the slab maintains insulation and dimensional stability under fire exposure.
Lightweight yet rigid, the batt can be easily cut to shape for complex service penetrations, offering a clean, durable finish once installed. The 50mm thickness is suited to single-layer applications and narrow or moderate-thickness wall constructions.
Features & Benefits
- Non-combustible core: Euroclass A1 stone wool delivers inherent fire resistance and acoustic performance.
- Ablative coating: Factory-applied sealant expands under heat, sealing gaps and restraining flame spread.
- Tested fire performance: Provides up to 120 minutes’ integrity and insulation when installed to approved details.
- Acoustic insulation: High-density structure reduces airborne sound transmission through penetrations.
- Ease of installation: Simple to cut and fit around cables, pipes, and ducts with minimal dust generation.
- Thickness: 50mm slab suitable for single-layer installations in standard partitions and floors.
Applications
- Service penetrations: Restores fire rating around pipes, ducts, and cable trays in walls or floors.
- Compartmentation: Used to seal voids in fire-rated walls, floors, and ceilings.
- Electrical and mechanical services: Compatible with metallic and non-metallic pipes, conduits, and trunking.
- Acoustic control: Reduces noise leakage through service openings in separating structures.
Installation Guidance
- Preparation: Ensure openings are clean, dry, and free from debris before fitting.
- Cutting: Trim batt to fit tightly within the aperture using a long-bladed knife or saw.
- Compression fit: Insert slab under light compression; coat cut edges with Rockwool Ablative Coating.
- Service sealing: Apply additional coating or Rockwool Intumescent Sealant around penetrations as required.
- Finish: Smooth coating surface to ensure uniform seal; allow to dry before exposure to service conditions.
Compliance & Performance
- Material specification: Stone wool to BS EN 13162, coated with factory-applied water-based ablative sealant.
- Fire classification: Euroclass A1 non-combustible core; tested to BS EN 1366-3 and BS EN 1366-4.
- Fire resistance: Up to 120 minutes’ integrity and insulation (system dependent).
- Acoustic performance: Up to 52 dB sound reduction when installed correctly.
- Environmental compliance: Free from CFCs, HFCs, and HCFCs; recyclable stone-wool composition.
- Important note: Fire rating is dependent on the complete system build-up and installation in accordance with Rockwool’s tested details.

How delivery works
We work with a nationwide network of trusted suppliers. Items in your basket may be supplied by different suppliers and delivered separately. Where this applies, you will see delivery charges shown at checkout for each part of your order. We always aim to group products from the same supplier to keep delivery costs as low as possible.
Delivery areas
Delivery charges apply to mainland UK, excluding: AB, CA, CF, DD, DG, EH, EX, FK, KA, KW, KY, IV, LA, LD, LL, ML, NP, PA, PH, PL, SA, SY, TR, TQ and TD.
If your address is in one of these areas, we will contact you before processing your order to confirm any additional costs. We do not currently offer delivery outside the UK mainland.
What to expect on delivery day
- Deliveries are typically kerbside.
- Please ensure someone is on-site to accept delivery. For heavier items, help with offloading may be required.
- Many building materials arrive on large vehicles. If access is restricted, a specialist vehicle such as a HIAB may be required and could incur an additional charge.
Why delivery can cost more than typical parcel delivery
Building materials often travel on larger vehicles and usually carry fewer drops per run than parcel networks. That is why delivery charges can be higher than standard e-commerce shipping.
Returns
Returns depend on what you have bought and whether there is anything wrong with it. For full details on eligibility, timeframes, and exclusions, please see our full policy.
