Product Overview

Wafer Head Cement Board Screws with a 42mm length. Precision-engineered self-drilling fasteners for securely fixing cement-based boards to steel framing.

Each screw features a self-drilling point capable of penetrating steel sections up to 3mm thick without pre-drilling, offering a clean, controlled drive.

The wide wafer head ensures even pressure distribution across the cement board surface, reducing the risk of cracking or surface damage during installation.

Countersinking ribs beneath the head regulate seating depth, producing a flush, professional finish. Manufactured for use with cement boards such as HardieBacker and similar sheet materials, these screws combine high performance with reliable, consistent results in both residential and commercial applications.

The 42mm length offers deeper engagement, providing secure fixing for medium to heavy board thicknesses.

Features & Benefits

  • Self-drilling point: Penetrates steel up to 3mm thick without the need for pre-drilling, streamlining installation and reducing on-site preparation time.
  • Wafer head design: Broad, low-profile head distributes pressure evenly across the board surface, preventing damage and ensuring stable fixing.
  • Countersinking ribs: Allow the screw head to sit flush with the board, delivering a neat and uniform finish while preventing over-driving.
  • Fully threaded shank: Provides maximum holding power in steel frames, maintaining a secure, vibration-resistant connection.
  • Phillips drive compatibility: Enables quick and easy installation using standard tools, improving work efficiency.
  • Durable construction: Manufactured for long-term strength and resistance to wear, suitable for demanding construction environments.
  • Size – 42mm length: Provides secure fixing for medium to heavy cement boards, ensuring full penetration and superior hold.

Applications

  • Steel-to-cement board fixing: Designed for attaching cement boards to steel studs, channels, and dry-lining frames.
  • Partition wall systems: Used in cladding, partitioning, and lining systems requiring firm cement board-to-steel fastening.
  • Interior and exterior installations: Suitable for both commercial and domestic construction where cement board lining is required.

Installation Guidance

  • Preparation: Ensure the substrate is clean, level, and free of debris before fixing.
  • Tool compatibility: Use a standard Phillips drive power tool with appropriate torque control.
  • Driving method: Align screw perpendicular to the board surface; allow the self-drilling point to penetrate without excessive pressure.
  • Seating control: Drive until the wafer head sits flush; do not over-tighten to avoid damaging the board.

Compliance & Performance

  • Material specification: Hardened carbon steel with corrosion-resistant coating for extended service life.
  • Performance standard: Designed to meet trade performance criteria for cement board fixing to light-gauge steel framing.
  • Load performance: Optimised thread geometry ensures reliable tensile and shear strength under static and dynamic loads.
  • Safety note: Always wear eye protection when drilling or driving screws; ensure power tools are used in accordance with manufacturer guidance.
  • Important note: Not suitable for use in heavy-gauge or structural steel sections exceeding 3mm thickness.

How delivery works

We work with a nationwide network of trusted suppliers. Items in your basket may be supplied by different suppliers and delivered separately. Where this applies, you will see delivery charges shown at checkout for each part of your order. We always aim to group products from the same supplier to keep delivery costs as low as possible.

Delivery areas

Delivery charges apply to mainland UK, excluding: AB, CA, CF, DD, DG, EH, EX, FK, KA, KW, KY, IV, LA, LD, LL, ML, NP, PA, PH, PL, SA, SY, TR, TQ and TD.

If your address is in one of these areas, we will contact you before processing your order to confirm any additional costs. We do not currently offer delivery outside the UK mainland.

What to expect on delivery day

  • Deliveries are typically kerbside.
  • Please ensure someone is on-site to accept delivery. For heavier items, help with offloading may be required.
  • Many building materials arrive on large vehicles. If access is restricted, a specialist vehicle such as a HIAB may be required and could incur an additional charge.

Why delivery can cost more than typical parcel delivery

Building materials often travel on larger vehicles and usually carry fewer drops per run than parcel networks. That is why delivery charges can be higher than standard e-commerce shipping.

Returns

Returns depend on what you have bought and whether there is anything wrong with it. For full details on eligibility, timeframes, and exclusions, please see our full policy.
