Product Overview

Thermalite Aircrete Trenchblock T&G with a 300mm width, 440mm length, and 215mm height. These aerated concrete blocks are engineered specifically for below-ground construction, featuring a closed micro-cellular structure that traps air to deliver high thermal insulation and structural reliability. The tongue and groove profile facilitates quick, accurate alignment during the construction of trench foundations.

These blocks provide a practical, lightweight solution for sub-structure applications, offering high compressive strength without the excessive weight associated with traditional dense concrete. By improving the overall thermal performance of the building envelope from the foundation upwards, they assist in meeting modern building regulation energy targets and help reduce operational CO2 emissions. This specification applies to the block with a 300mm width.

Features & Benefits

  • Thermal insulation: Exceptional thermal properties help achieve required U-value targets and reduce heat loss through the foundation.
  • Structural performance: High compressive strength of 3.6 N/mm² ensures the block is suitable for the load-bearing requirements of trench foundations.
  • Ease of handling: Lightweight composition reduces physical strain during manual handling and accelerates the speed of onsite construction.
  • Precision installation: Integrated tongue and groove system enables fast, interlocking alignment of courses for a consistent build quality.
  • Durability: Closed micro-cellular structure provides excellent resistance to moisture and maintains integrity in below-ground conditions.
  • Dimensional accuracy: Consistent manufacturing tolerances ensure uniform courses and stable, professional workmanship for a 300mm width.

Applications

  • Cavity walls external leaf below DPC: Suitable for the construction of the external masonry leaf in sub-structure cavity walling.
  • Cavity walls inner leaf below DPC: Designed for use as the inner structural leaf in sub-structure cavity walling.
  • Solid external walls below DPC: Engineered for the construction of solid external masonry walls in sub-structure applications.

Installation Guidance

  • Surface preparation: Ensure the trench base is clean, level, and free from debris before commencing the first course.
  • Block alignment: Utilise the tongue and groove profile to interlock each block firmly with the adjacent unit to maintain vertical and horizontal alignment.
  • Mortar application: Apply an even bed of mortar to achieve a full, uniform joint between courses in accordance with standard masonry practices.
  • Handling: Use safe lifting techniques suitable for blocks with a 300mm width.

Compliance & Performance

  • Material specification: Manufactured from high-quality aerated concrete with a dry density of 600 kg/m³.
  • Compressive strength: Certified at 3.6 N/mm² for reliable load-bearing capacity.
  • Thermal conductivity: Achieves a λ value of 0.24 W/m.K for below-ground applications.
  • Standard compliance: Products are manufactured to relevant industry standards for aircrete masonry units.
  • Pallet Charge: Orders requiring a pallet will incur a refundable pallet charge. Our customer service team will confirm if this applies to your order.

How delivery works

We work with a nationwide network of trusted suppliers. Items in your basket may be supplied by different suppliers and delivered separately. Where this applies, you will see delivery charges shown at checkout for each part of your order. We always aim to group products from the same supplier to keep delivery costs as low as possible.

Delivery areas

Delivery charges apply to mainland UK, excluding: AB, CA, CF, DD, DG, EH, EX, FK, KA, KW, KY, IV, LA, LD, LL, ML, NP, PA, PH, PL, SA, SY, TR, TQ and TD.

If your address is in one of these areas, we will contact you before processing your order to confirm any additional costs. We do not currently offer delivery outside the UK mainland.

What to expect on delivery day

  • Deliveries are typically kerbside.
  • Please ensure someone is on-site to accept delivery. For heavier items, help with offloading may be required.
  • Many building materials arrive on large vehicles. If access is restricted, a specialist vehicle such as a HIAB may be required and could incur an additional charge.

Why delivery can cost more than typical parcel delivery

Building materials often travel on larger vehicles and usually carry fewer drops per run than parcel networks. That is why delivery charges can be higher than standard e-commerce shipping.

Returns

Returns depend on what you have bought and whether there is anything wrong with it. For full details on eligibility, timeframes, and exclusions, please see our full policy.
