Product Overview

Fermacell Gypsum Fibre Board Square Edge with a 12.5mm thickness and 2400mm x 1200mm sheet size. This dense, high-performance building board is manufactured from recycled gypsum and cellulose fibres, formed under high pressure into a tough, homogenous sheet.

The board provides superior strength, impact resistance, and acoustic performance compared with standard plasterboard. Its moisture resistance and dimensional stability make it suitable for use in drylining, partitioning, and wall or ceiling systems in both residential and commercial buildings.

The 12.5mm standard thickness provides a robust yet manageable panel ideal for general-purpose internal linings and partitions.

Features & Benefits

  • High mechanical strength: Homogenous fibre-reinforced structure provides exceptional screw-holding capacity and impact resistance.
  • Moisture resistant: Stable in humid conditions; suitable for use in kitchens, bathrooms, and utility spaces.
  • Acoustic performance: High density improves airborne sound reduction in wall and ceiling systems.
  • Fire resistant: Classified A2-s1,d0 under EN 13501-1, contributing to non-combustible wall construction.
  • Smooth, uniform surface: Ready for jointing, skim coating, or direct decoration.
  • Thickness and size: 2400mm x 1200mm board with standard 12.5mm thickness for general internal wall and ceiling applications.

Applications

  • Internal wall linings: Provides a robust surface finish for domestic and commercial projects.
  • Partitions and ceilings: Used in drylining systems requiring impact and fire resistance.
  • Moisture-resistant zones: Suitable for bathrooms, kitchens, and semi-humid environments.
  • Acoustic constructions: Enhances sound insulation in separating or corridor walls.

Installation Guidance

  • Cutting: Score and snap or use a fine-tooth saw; cut edges should be clean and square.
  • Fixing: Screw directly to metal or timber framing using appropriate Fermacell screws.
  • Jointing: Use Fermacell joint filler or tape system for flush, seamless joints.
  • Finishing: Boards may be painted, skim-coated, or tiled once dry and clean.

Compliance & Performance

  • Material composition: Gypsum reinforced with recycled cellulose fibres, bonded under high pressure.
  • Fire classification: A2-s1,d0 non-combustible to EN 13501-1.
  • Thermal conductivity: Approx. 0.32 W/mK.
  • Environmental compliance: Fully recyclable, low-VOC, and produced with minimal embodied energy.
  • Important note: Install in accordance with Fermacell system guidelines for tested fire and acoustic performance.

How delivery works

We work with a nationwide network of trusted suppliers. Items in your basket may be supplied by different suppliers and delivered separately. Where this applies, you will see delivery charges shown at checkout for each part of your order. We always aim to group products from the same supplier to keep delivery costs as low as possible.

Delivery areas

Delivery charges apply to mainland UK, excluding: AB, CA, CF, DD, DG, EH, EX, FK, KA, KW, KY, IV, LA, LD, LL, ML, NP, PA, PH, PL, SA, SY, TR, TQ and TD.

If your address is in one of these areas, we will contact you before processing your order to confirm any additional costs. We do not currently offer delivery outside the UK mainland.

What to expect on delivery day

  • Deliveries are typically kerbside.
  • Please ensure someone is on-site to accept delivery. For heavier items, help with offloading may be required.
  • Many building materials arrive on large vehicles. If access is restricted, a specialist vehicle such as a HIAB may be required and could incur an additional charge.

Why delivery can cost more than typical parcel delivery

Building materials often travel on larger vehicles and usually carry fewer drops per run than parcel networks. That is why delivery charges can be higher than standard e-commerce shipping.

Returns

Returns depend on what you have bought and whether there is anything wrong with it. For full details on eligibility, timeframes, and exclusions, please see our full policy.
