Product Overview
100mm x 215mm x 440mm precast concrete padstone, engineered for heavy load distribution beneath lintels and structural beams.
With increased depth (215mm) and length (440mm), PAD12 offers greater bearing area and compressive strength compared to smaller padstones.
It is particularly suited to supporting large steel beams, concrete lintels, or structural elements in load-bearing walls of residential and commercial buildings.
Features & Benefits
- Load distribution: Spreads concentrated loads from lintels or beams into the supporting wall.
- High strength: Manufactured from dense precast concrete to withstand high bearing pressures.
- Durable performance: Resistant to fire, rot, and long-term weathering.
- Enhanced capacity: 215mm depth and 440mm length provide robust bearing for heavy lintels and beams.
- Wider application: Suitable for demanding load cases in both domestic and commercial walls.
Applications
- Supporting Steel Beams: Providing a solid bearing for Universal Beams (UBs), Universal Columns (UCs), or Rolled Steel Joists (RSJs) where they bear onto load-bearing brick or block walls.
- Under Concrete Lintels: Distributing the load from precast or prestressed concrete lintels over wider window or door openings onto the supporting jamb masonry.
- Supporting Timber Beams: Used under the ends of heavily loaded timber beams or glulam (glued laminated timber) beams where they sit on masonry walls to prevent crushing of the wood or masonry.
- Heavy lintel bearings: Provides support for large lintels carrying significant loads.
- Steel beam supports: Suited to heavy structural steel sections.
- Load-bearing walls: Used in domestic and commercial masonry construction.
- Large openings: Appropriate for double doors, patio doors, or wide-span windows.
Installation Guidance
- Preparation: Ensure padstone is level and fully bedded in mortar.
- Placement: Position directly under the lintel or beam to transfer loads safely.
- Alignment: Maintain full contact with both lintel end and supporting masonry.
- Handling: Lift with care to avoid chipping edges.
Compliance & Performance
- Material: Dense precast concrete.
- Strength: Designed to withstand high compressive loads.
- Fire resistance: Non-combustible and inherently fire resistant.
- Durability: Resistant to weathering and corrosion.
Delivery & Returns Information
Delivery charges vary by product category and order value. Items may ship from different suppliers and arrive separately, so delivery charges can be shown per part of your order at checkout.

How delivery works
We work with a nationwide network of trusted suppliers. Items in your basket may be supplied by different suppliers and delivered separately. Where this applies, you will see delivery charges shown at checkout for each part of your order. We always aim to group products from the same supplier to keep delivery costs as low as possible.
Delivery areas
Delivery charges apply to mainland UK, excluding: AB, CA, CF, DD, DG, EH, EX, FK, KA, KW, KY, IV, LA, LD, LL, ML, NP, PA, PH, PL, SA, SY, TR, TQ and TD.
If your address is in one of these areas, we will contact you before processing your order to confirm any additional costs. We do not currently offer delivery outside the UK mainland.
What to expect on delivery day
- Deliveries are typically kerbside.
- Please ensure someone is on-site to accept delivery. For heavier items, help with offloading may be required.
- Many building materials arrive on large vehicles. If access is restricted, a specialist vehicle such as a HIAB may be required and could incur an additional charge.
Why delivery can cost more than typical parcel delivery
Building materials often travel on larger vehicles and usually carry fewer drops per run than parcel networks. That is why delivery charges can be higher than standard e-commerce shipping.
Returns
Returns depend on what you have bought and whether there is anything wrong with it. For full details on eligibility, timeframes, and exclusions, please see our full policy.
