Product Overview
Soudal B1 Genius Gun Fire & Acoustic Expanding Foam in a 600ml canister is a single-component, self-expanding polyurethane foam designed for precision sealing, filling, and insulating applications.
The foam expands upon contact with moisture, forming a stable, thixotropic structure that provides both fire resistance and superior sound insulation. Formulated with HCFC- and CFC-free propellants, it offers environmental safety without compromising performance.
Equipped with Soudal’s patented Genius Gun applicator, the foam allows controlled, one-handed operation, ensuring accurate delivery and minimal waste during application.
Once cured, it achieves a free-foamed density of approximately 40 kg/m³ and provides sound insulation up to 58 dB, with excellent adhesion to most construction materials except polyethylene (PE), polypropylene (PP), and polytetrafluoroethylene (PTFE).
The foam exhibits high stability, with less than 5% shrinkage and no post-expansion after curing, ensuring consistent fill and long-term performance. With a temperature resistance from -40°C to +90°C and a fire classification of B1 to DIN 4102, it is well suited for both fire-rated and acoustic applications.
Thermally efficient with a conductivity value of 35.4 mW/m·K, the product enhances both thermal and acoustic comfort in building envelopes, structural joints, and service penetrations.
Each 600ml aerosol yields approximately 25 litres of foam or up to 18 metres of sealed joint, depending on the application conditions.
Features & Benefits
- Fire Resistance (B1 Rated): Classified to DIN 4102 B1 for fire-retardant performance in approved sealing and insulation applications.
- Sound Insulation: Achieves up to 58 dB sound reduction, improving acoustic comfort in partitioned spaces and building envelopes.
- Thermal Efficiency: Thermal conductivity of 35.4 mW/m·K provides effective insulation for energy conservation.
- High Stability: Less than 5% shrinkage and no post-expansion after curing ensure precise, reliable filling.
- Controlled Application: Patented Genius Gun system allows easy, one-handed operation for clean, accurate use.
- Material Compatibility: Adheres to most building materials, including concrete, brick, timber, and metals, excluding PE, PP, and PTFE.
- Environmental Safety: HCFC- and CFC-free formulation protects the ozone layer.
- Temperature Resistance: Maintains integrity from -40 °C to +90 °C when cured.
- Pack Size: 600 ml aerosol yields approximately 25 litres of cured foam or 18 metres of joint seal.
Applications
- Window and Door Installation: Seals and insulates gaps around frames for improved airtightness and soundproofing.
- Cavity Filling: Expands to fill wall, floor, or ceiling voids for structural and thermal integrity.
- Roof Penetration Sealing: Closes openings in roof structures against heat loss, noise, and fire spread.
- Acoustic Baffles: Forms effective sound barriers in walls and ceilings.
- Thermal Insulation Enhancement: Improves insulation in refrigeration, HVAC, and cooling systems.
Installation Guidance
- Preparation: Shake the can for at least 20 seconds before use and moisten application surfaces with water to promote adhesion and curing.
- Application: Apply with the Genius Gun in layers, filling voids to approximately one-third of their volume to allow for expansion.
- Layering: Re-moisten between layers when deeper filling is required to ensure full curing.
- Cleaning: Remove uncured foam using Soudal Gun & Foamcleaner or acetone; cured foam must be removed mechanically.
- Storage: Store upright in a cool, dry place between 5 °C and 25 °C with the nozzle closed after use.
Compliance & Performance
- Fire Classification: B1 to DIN 4102-1, Certificate P-SAC 02/III-374 (MFPA Leipzig).
- Thermal Conductivity: 35.4 mW/m·K (EN 17333-5).
- Sound Insulation: 58 dB (EN ISO 717-1).
- Compressive Strength: Approximately 37 kPa (EN 17333-4).
- Curing and Density: Free-foamed density of 40 kg/m³, moisture-curing system with 8.5 minutes skin formation.
- Environmental Compliance: Contains no HCFC or CFC propellants; ozone-safe.
- Important Note: Always wear gloves and eye protection during application. Avoid inhalation of vapours and never burn away cured foam. Cured product is non-toxic but must be removed mechanically.

How delivery works
We work with a nationwide network of trusted suppliers. Items in your basket may be supplied by different suppliers and delivered separately. Where this applies, you will see delivery charges shown at checkout for each part of your order. We always aim to group products from the same supplier to keep delivery costs as low as possible.
Delivery areas
Delivery charges apply to mainland UK, excluding: AB, CA, CF, DD, DG, EH, EX, FK, KA, KW, KY, IV, LA, LD, LL, ML, NP, PA, PH, PL, SA, SY, TR, TQ and TD.
If your address is in one of these areas, we will contact you before processing your order to confirm any additional costs. We do not currently offer delivery outside the UK mainland.
What to expect on delivery day
- Deliveries are typically kerbside.
- Please ensure someone is on-site to accept delivery. For heavier items, help with offloading may be required.
- Many building materials arrive on large vehicles. If access is restricted, a specialist vehicle such as a HIAB may be required and could incur an additional charge.
Why delivery can cost more than typical parcel delivery
Building materials often travel on larger vehicles and usually carry fewer drops per run than parcel networks. That is why delivery charges can be higher than standard e-commerce shipping.
Returns
Returns depend on what you have bought and whether there is anything wrong with it. For full details on eligibility, timeframes, and exclusions, please see our full policy.
