Product Overview

SikaMix Plus Mortar and Plaster Admixture supplied as a ready-to-use brown liquid. This admixture is designed to modify and enhance the performance of cement-based mortars and plasters, providing improved plasticity, cohesion, and long-term durability.

Acting as both an air-entraining and plasticising agent, it introduces finely dispersed air bubbles into the mix when added to gauging water, producing smoother, more workable mortars and renders.

The result is an easier-to-handle, more consistent material with reduced cracking, shrinkage, and improved frost resistance. SikaMix Plus is CE marked and tested in accordance with EN 934-3 as an air-entraining/plasticising admixture for masonry mortar.

Features & Benefits

  • Improved workability: Creates a smoother, more cohesive mortar with enhanced handling, spreading, and finishing qualities.
  • Reduced water demand: Lowers the amount of water required to achieve target consistency, contributing to increased density and strength.
  • Enhanced strength: Supports improved compressive and flexural performance in hardened mortars and plasters.
  • Improved frost resistance: Introduces micro-air structure to enhance resistance to freeze–thaw cycles.
  • Minimised cracking and shrinkage: Reduces drying and thermal cracking, including fine surface crazing.
  • Reduced efflorescence: Limits the formation of white salt deposits on masonry surfaces.
  • Non-corrosive composition: Contains no chlorides or aggressive substances, ensuring safety for embedded steel reinforcement.
  • Improved adhesion: Promotes superior bond strength between mortars or plasters and various substrates.
  • Controlled setting behaviour: Aids in achieving consistent setting times under variable site conditions.
  • Economical use: Concentrated formulation provides efficient performance at low dosages.
  • Ease of application: Supplied ready for direct addition to gauging water for simplified site use.
  • Consistent quality: Assists in producing reliable, uniform mortars and renders across multiple batches.
  • Product form and colour: Ready-to-use brown liquid admixture for addition to gauging water.

Applications

  • Bricklaying and blockwork mortars: Produces workable, durable mixes for high-quality laying of bricks, blocks, and masonry units.
  • Renders and plasters: Generates smooth, easily applied coatings for internal and external use.
  • General masonry mortars: Enhances workability and durability in all site-mixed mortars exposed to varying conditions.

Installation Guidance

  • Dosage recommendation: Add 125–250 ml of SikaMix Plus per 50 kg of cement, depending on mix design and required workability.
  • Preparation of solution: Add the measured quantity of SikaMix Plus to clean gauging water before introducing the liquid to the dry mix.
  • Mixing procedure: Combine the prepared solution with cement and aggregate in the mixer, following normal mixing practice until uniform consistency is achieved.
  • Direct addition: Do not add SikaMix Plus directly to dry cement or sand.
  • Trial mix verification: Carry out trial mixes to confirm optimal dosage for site materials and conditions.
  • Substrate preparation: Ensure all surfaces are clean, sound, and suitably dampened prior to mortar application.

Compliance & Performance

  • Standard compliance: Conforms to EN 934-3:2009 + A1:2012 as an air-entraining/plasticising admixture for masonry mortar.
  • Certification: CE marked in accordance with European construction product standards.
  • Performance characteristics: Enhances workability, reduces water demand, and improves freeze–thaw durability in finished mortars.
  • Material composition: Non-chloride, non-corrosive formulation suitable for use with reinforced structures.
  • Storage and handling: Store in sealed containers under frost-free conditions.
  • Important note: Always determine dosage through controlled trial mixes and follow standard site safety and handling practices.

How delivery works

We work with a nationwide network of trusted suppliers. Items in your basket may be supplied by different suppliers and delivered separately. Where this applies, you will see delivery charges shown at checkout for each part of your order. We always aim to group products from the same supplier to keep delivery costs as low as possible.

Delivery areas

Delivery charges apply to mainland UK, excluding: AB, CA, CF, DD, DG, EH, EX, FK, KA, KW, KY, IV, LA, LD, LL, ML, NP, PA, PH, PL, SA, SY, TR, TQ and TD.

If your address is in one of these areas, we will contact you before processing your order to confirm any additional costs. We do not currently offer delivery outside the UK mainland.

What to expect on delivery day

  • Deliveries are typically kerbside.
  • Please ensure someone is on-site to accept delivery. For heavier items, help with offloading may be required.
  • Many building materials arrive on large vehicles. If access is restricted, a specialist vehicle such as a HIAB may be required and could incur an additional charge.

Why delivery can cost more than typical parcel delivery

Building materials often travel on larger vehicles and usually carry fewer drops per run than parcel networks. That is why delivery charges can be higher than standard e-commerce shipping.

Returns

Returns depend on what you have bought and whether there is anything wrong with it. For full details on eligibility, timeframes, and exclusions, please see our full policy.
