How delivery works

We work with a nationwide network of trusted suppliers. Items in your basket may be supplied by different suppliers and delivered separately. Where this applies, you will see delivery charges shown at checkout for each part of your order. We always aim to group products from the same supplier to keep delivery costs as low as possible.

Delivery areas

Delivery charges apply to mainland UK, excluding: AB, CA, CF, DD, DG, EH, EX, FK, KA, KW, KY, IV, LA, LD, LL, ML, NP, PA, PH, PL, SA, SY, TR, TQ and TD.

If your address is in one of these areas, we will contact you before processing your order to confirm any additional costs. We do not currently offer delivery outside the UK mainland.

What to expect on delivery day

  • Deliveries are typically kerbside.
  • Please ensure someone is on-site to accept delivery. For heavier items, help with offloading may be required.
  • Many building materials arrive on large vehicles. If access is restricted, a specialist vehicle such as a HIAB may be required and could incur an additional charge.

Why delivery can cost more than typical parcel delivery

Building materials often travel on larger vehicles and usually carry fewer drops per run than parcel networks. That is why delivery charges can be higher than standard e-commerce shipping.

Returns

Returns depend on what you have bought and whether there is anything wrong with it. For full details on eligibility, timeframes, and exclusions, please see our full policy.

Product Overview

Metpost Concrete In System 2 designed for 100mm × 100mm square timber posts.

Heavy-duty post support system engineered for setting timber fence posts securely into concrete foundations. Manufactured from galvanised steel for exceptional strength and corrosion resistance, it provides a stable and durable base for fencing, decking, and structural outdoor timber applications.

The System 2 design features a welded steel box section to grip the post firmly above ground level, preventing direct contact with concrete and reducing the risk of rot. The below-ground spike section is embedded directly into a concrete base, ensuring a rigid and permanent fixing even under high lateral load.

The 100mm × 100mm model accommodates standard 4-inch square posts, providing a robust, professional-grade solution for heavy-duty fencing or gate installations.

Features & Benefits

  • Strong foundation support: Welded steel construction ensures solid anchoring in concrete for long-term stability.
  • Corrosion resistant: Hot-dip galvanised coating protects against rust and environmental exposure.
  • Rot prevention: Lifts timber post clear of the ground, reducing moisture absorption and decay.
  • Secure grip: Box section holds post firmly in place with twin bolt or clamp fixing.
  • Permanent installation: Designed for embedding in concrete foundations for high-strength structural support.
  • Size: 100mm × 100mm internal box section suitable for standard 4-inch square timber posts.

Applications

  • Fence post installation: Provides a stable, rot-resistant base for timber fencing.
  • Gate posts: Ideal for supporting heavy or frequently used gates.
  • Decking frameworks: Forms strong, secure supports for timber deck posts or balustrades.
  • Outdoor structures: Suitable for pergolas, shelters, and other load-bearing timber constructions.

Installation Guidance

  • Preparation: Excavate a hole to required depth and fill partially with wet concrete mix.
  • Positioning: Insert the spike section into the concrete and align with post line before setting.
  • Levelling: Ensure post holder section remains vertical while concrete sets.
  • Post insertion: Once cured, insert the timber post and tighten clamping bolts or screws.
  • Final check: Confirm post is square, plumb, and securely fixed before loading.

Compliance & Performance

  • Material specification: Heavy-gauge galvanised steel to BS EN 10346.
  • Finish: Hot-dip zinc coating for enhanced corrosion protection.
  • Post compatibility: Suitable for 100mm × 100mm square timber posts.
  • Fixing method: Concrete-in foundation with integral welded steel anchor.
  • Durability: Designed for long-term external use in all typical soil and weather conditions.
  • Important note: Always ensure correct alignment during setting; allow concrete to cure fully before attaching fencing components.
