Product Overview
65mm Dense Concrete Common Brick with a compressive strength of 22N/mm². Designed for robust structural performance, this dense concrete brick is suitable for both below and above damp-proof course (DPC) applications.
Its high density and durability make it ideal for use in foundations, load-bearing walls, and other structural works exposed to moisture or severe conditions. Each brick offers natural tonal variation due to the diverse raw materials used in manufacture, providing a functional yet distinctive appearance.
The brick measures 65mm in height, forming a solid, durable masonry unit for general construction.
Features & Benefits
- High Compressive Strength: Rated at 22N/mm², providing reliable load-bearing performance in structural and foundation work.
- Dense Concrete Composition: Manufactured from high-quality aggregates and cement for maximum strength and minimal water absorption.
- Weather Resistance: Strong resistance to freeze–thaw cycles, rain penetration, and frost damage, ensuring durability in exposed or damp environments.
- Thermal Performance: High thermal mass helps to regulate internal temperatures and improve building efficiency.
- Dimensional Consistency: Precision-formed to maintain even courses and accurate alignment during construction.
- Dual-Purpose Use: Suitable for both above and below damp-proof course applications, increasing versatility on site.
- 65mm Height: Standard modular dimension allowing seamless integration with dense aggregate blocks and conventional masonry layouts.
Applications
- Foundation Construction: Ideal for below-ground masonry and base courses exposed to moisture.
- Load-Bearing Walls: Suitable for use in walls requiring strength and dimensional stability.
- Damp-Proof Course Level: Approved for use immediately below or above the DPC.
- Retaining and Boundary Walls: Performs well where high strength and moisture resistance are required.
- General Masonry Work: Applicable in all structural and infill walling where facing appearance is not the primary requirement.
Installation Guidance
- Surface Preparation: Ensure the foundation or base is level, clean, and free of debris before laying.
- Mortar Application: Use a suitable sand–cement mortar mix with consistent joint thickness to achieve maximum bond strength.
- Laying Procedure: Stagger vertical joints in alternate courses for structural integrity.
- Protection During Construction: Protect laid masonry from excessive rain, frost, or rapid drying to prevent movement or cracking.
- Finishing: Allow mortar to cure fully before applying finishes or loading above.
Compliance & Performance
- Compressive Strength: 22N/mm² tested to relevant masonry standards.
- Water Absorption: Low absorption due to dense concrete formulation, improving frost resistance.
- Durability Classification: Suitable for severe exposure conditions below and above DPC.
- Thermal Conductivity: Provides effective thermal mass and energy retention in external and internal walling.
- Manufacturing Tolerances: Produced under controlled conditions for consistent dimensional accuracy.
- Important Note: Designed for structural and utility purposes only; not intended as a facing brick for aesthetic applications.

How delivery works
We work with a nationwide network of trusted suppliers. Items in your basket may be supplied by different suppliers and delivered separately. Where this applies, you will see delivery charges shown at checkout for each part of your order. We always aim to group products from the same supplier to keep delivery costs as low as possible.
Delivery areas
Delivery charges apply to mainland UK, excluding: AB, CA, CF, DD, DG, EH, EX, FK, KA, KW, KY, IV, LA, LD, LL, ML, NP, PA, PH, PL, SA, SY, TR, TQ and TD.
If your address is in one of these areas, we will contact you before processing your order to confirm any additional costs. We do not currently offer delivery outside the UK mainland.
What to expect on delivery day
- Deliveries are typically kerbside.
- Please ensure someone is on-site to accept delivery. For heavier items, help with offloading may be required.
- Many building materials arrive on large vehicles. If access is restricted, a specialist vehicle such as a HIAB may be required and could incur an additional charge.
Why delivery can cost more than typical parcel delivery
Building materials often travel on larger vehicles and usually carry fewer drops per run than parcel networks. That is why delivery charges can be higher than standard e-commerce shipping.
Returns
Returns depend on what you have bought and whether there is anything wrong with it. For full details on eligibility, timeframes, and exclusions, please see our full policy.
Customer Reviews
All good. Used these as foundations for a project I am working on. None broken, so I'm pleased with them.
