Product Overview

Green Vapour Barrier sheeting with a 4m width and 50m length is a polyethylene moisture-blocking membrane designed to prevent the passage of internal water vapour into colder areas of the building fabric.

Its 125mu (500-gauge) thickness provides high vapour resistance for protecting insulation, structural layers, and internal finishes. The membrane functions as a complete vapour and air barrier, positioned on the warm side of insulation to stop moisture-laden indoor air from reaching cold surfaces where condensation could occur.

By preventing interstitial condensation, it protects against mould growth, damp staining, and deterioration of insulation materials, supporting long-term structural integrity.

Its durable polymer construction ensures stable performance across wall, floor, and ceiling applications in both residential and commercial environments.

The barrier also contributes to improved thermal performance by maintaining the insulation’s effectiveness and reducing associated heat-loss pathways.

Features & Benefits

  • Moisture restriction: Blocks the movement of warm, moisture-laden air to reduce the risk of condensation within the building fabric.
  • Condensation prevention: Helps protect insulation layers from dampness, maintaining long-term thermal performance and material stability.
  • Enhanced energy efficiency: Supports consistent internal temperatures by preserving insulation effectiveness throughout seasonal changes.
  • Durable polyethylene construction: Provides reliable resistance against tearing, puncturing, and degradation during installation.
  • Air barrier performance: Creates a continuous airtight layer when installed with sealed joints to support overall building airtightness.
  • High vapour resistance: Delivers a vapour resistance of 266 MNs/g for robust moisture control in demanding environments.

Applications

  • Internal wall assemblies: Installed on the warm side of insulation to prevent vapour ingress into colder structural layers.
  • Ceiling and roof build-ups: Provides moisture control beneath insulated roof structures to limit condensation risk.
  • Floor systems: Acts as a vapour barrier above ground floors where internal humidity requires controlled containment.

Installation Guidance

  • Warm-side placement: Position the membrane on the interior side of insulation to maintain correct vapour control performance.
  • Substrate preparation: Ensure framing, insulation surfaces, and junctions are clean and suitable for achieving continuous coverage.
  • Fixing application: Secure the membrane using appropriate mechanical fixings or tapes without overstressing the sheet.
  • Joint sealing: Seal all laps, penetrations, and perimeter edges with compatible tapes to maintain airtightness and vapour resistance.
  • Service penetration detailing: Wrap and tape around pipes, cables, and other penetrations to prevent vapour bypass.

Compliance & Performance

  • Material specification: Manufactured from durable polyethylene sheeting with a 125mu (500-gauge) thickness for high moisture resistance.
  • Vapour resistance: Provides a declared vapour resistance of 266 MNs/g to control internal moisture movement.
  • Moisture protection: Functions as a full vapour and air barrier to safeguard structural components and insulation layers.
  • Important note: Always install on the warm side of insulation and seal all joints to ensure full vapour barrier performance.

How delivery works

We work with a nationwide network of trusted suppliers. Items in your basket may be supplied by different suppliers and delivered separately. Where this applies, you will see delivery charges shown at checkout for each part of your order. We always aim to group products from the same supplier to keep delivery costs as low as possible.

Delivery areas

Delivery charges apply to mainland UK, excluding: AB, CA, CF, DD, DG, EH, EX, FK, KA, KW, KY, IV, LA, LD, LL, ML, NP, PA, PH, PL, SA, SY, TR, TQ and TD.

If your address is in one of these areas, we will contact you before processing your order to confirm any additional costs. We do not currently offer delivery outside the UK mainland.

What to expect on delivery day

  • Deliveries are typically kerbside.
  • Please ensure someone is on-site to accept delivery. For heavier items, help with offloading may be required.
  • Many building materials arrive on large vehicles. If access is restricted, a specialist vehicle such as a HIAB may be required and could incur an additional charge.

Why delivery can cost more than typical parcel delivery

Building materials often travel on larger vehicles and usually carry fewer drops per run than parcel networks. That is why delivery charges can be higher than standard e-commerce shipping.

Returns

Returns depend on what you have bought and whether there is anything wrong with it. For full details on eligibility, timeframes, and exclusions, please see our full policy.
